At Alive Recovery, we have teamed up with extraordinary specialists to help our clients recover from generalized anxiety disorders, also known as GAD.

Be it a residential treatment program or outpatient center, healthcare professionals can help individuals overcome their anxiety. Chronic anxiety has the ability to take over individuals in where living a daily life continues to be a constant challenge.

Some individuals diagnosed with GAD may also have a co-occurring disorder, such as trauma.

At Alive Recovery, we will find the right treatment so clients enter into a safe environment to address the roots of their anxiety and learn healthy life skills.

Types of Treatment

Healthcare professionals will help determine if a client’s GAD is best addressed with a residential treatment program, partial hospitalization program (PHP) or intensive outpatient programs (IOP).

Tailored psychological evaluations will help pinpoint what type of program will be most beneficial.

Once a client is assessed the healing program may consist of the following:

  • Medication: Certain types of medications may be introduced to help control anxiety symptoms. Medication can help balance a client so they may begin to focus on the healing process.  While some people may only need medication for a short period of time, others, may need long-term methodology.
  • Individual Therapy: Having one-on-one individual therapy can help a client hone in on their anxiety and its root cause(s). Typically, cognitive behavioral therapy is introduced to help recognize anxiety triggers and ways to dispel them. Learning how to replace negative and worrisome thoughts with positive thoughts is the goal.
  • Group therapy: When recommended, a client’s health care professional will suggest group therapy. This is a useful tool because the group is learning how to control their anxiety issues, as well. Above all, it helps make others realize they are not alone.  Group therapy is a safe environment and first step into reintegration

In addition to the above therapies, others may include family therapy and holistic therapies.

Depending on the program, samples of holistic therapies may include:

  • Yoga
  • Equine therapy
  • Hypnotherapy
  • Art Therapy
  • Psychodrama
  • Meditation

Once a client has addressed their anxiety triggers and learned the necessary tools to reverse them, reintegration back into life is coupled with locating outside programs.  These types of continuing care treatments may include IOP, outpatient therapy and other types of community resources.

Alive Recovery will make certain their clients are secure in every stage of their recovery.
